AG EXPO

Goshen County Conservation Districts

The three Goshen County Conservation Districts hosted the Area II meeting in Torrington on the 10th of September at the Bucking Horse Steak House. Counties that were represented at this meeting were Laramie, Albany, Platte, Converse, Niobrara and Goshen. The group toured a couple of Russian Olive removal projects within the area in the morning and held the WACD Area II business meeting in the afternoon. Awards were presented during lunch and Clay Peterson chairman of the North Platte Valley Conservation District received his 15 year pin as a Conservation District Supervisor. Levi Knudsen was presented with the Area II Outstanding District Employee and Brian

Lovett with the Laramie County was presented with the Area II Outstanding Supervisor as well as a pin for being a district supervisor for the past 5 years.

Our District Secretary assisted with the AG Expo held at the Goshen County Fairgrounds by presenting the amount of clean drinking water that is available to the world population. 

 

LAND USE ISSUES AND PROJECTS

Assisted the Goshen Commissioners and Goshen County Commission on Subdivision Reviews by addressing water quality issues as well as erosion concerns due to soil types.

Submitted comments to WACD on Legislative Issues dealing with sub-division and larger acreage developments in support of County Commissioners to have control on all developments within their counties.

 

SHELTERBELTS/WILDLIFE HABITATS

NPVCD and the other 2 conservation districts hosted a countywide meeting to discuss tree programs issues, new equipment shop and equipments repairs as well as added services to our tree program in the month of August.

 

EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

NPVCD hosted USDA Local Work Group Meeting to prioritize EQIP applications. Others involved with work group are FSA County Committee & Director, Goshen County Extension Service, Goshen County Commissioners, Goshen County Weed & Pest LFLCD, SGCD and NRCS.
